What Are NBA Players Wearing?

By: Ryan Wooley

As the NBA playoffs continue to roll on and the post-game press conferences continue to get stranger with wardrobes, I find myself asking why these professional athletes would wear some of the ridiculous outfits that they are.

I mean don't get me wrong, I'm not fashionista by any means, but I think it's pretty easy to look in the mirror and say you don't look good in a certain outfit. Or better yet, for your publicist, manager, teammate or even wife to say something before you leave the locker room or house.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, just tune into TNT or ESPN after a game in the Conference Finals. You'll see multiple people wearing the Urkel glasses, oddly colored shirts or pants, or worse yet—a little boy's shirt with umbrellas—right Russell Westbrook?

I know this isn't the first time we've seen athletes dressed out of place in a post-game press conference, but it has been a while since we've seen something to this extent. The closest I can recall was Freddie Mitchell for the Philadelphia Eagles wearing a big bowtie after converting a 4th and 26 against Green Bay in the playoffs.

I don't know if I missed the memo on looking outrageous when going out in public, but I love the fact that Conan O'Brien has been poking fun at some of the superstars with videos like this.

I can only hope that one of the players will have the guts to dress up like the phantom or pirate after a game. But then again, it may take more than guts because it takes a lot to step out looking as bad as they already do.
