Fire At Vacant Packard Plant, No Injuries Reported

DETROIT (WWJ) – Seems like it happens about once a month: A fire at the old Packard Plant on Detroit’s east side.

Tipsters calling the WWJ Newsroom that they could see thick, black smoke for miles. One caller said he could see the smoke from downtown Windsor.

No reports of injuries.

The old plant has been vacant and abandoned for years, and is often used by squatters, drug users, and artists, who paint their craft on the walls inside the plant.
