ROYAL OAK — RTT Inc. held another in its series of three-dimensional visualization demonstration events for design and marketing professionals, this one behind the new Detroit Mercantile Co. in Detroit’s Eastern Market.
More than 200 people from 20 companies attended “Excite Detroit,” experiencing the entire RTT process from data preparation to content creation through interactive demonstrations and private tours.
“RTT has done great work for us in rendering high-quality images and videos of our engines and other powertrain products,” said Ed Byk, product manager, engine and component marketing, Daimler Trucks North America. “It is important that we’re aware of other cutting edge technologies, such as augmented reality and 3D animation. Meeting with RTT designers and developers at Excite was an especially helpful way of understanding how these technologies can be deployed by Detroit Diesel Corp. in the future.”
Excite provided an opportunity for current and potential clients to view the latest in 3D visualization software and to explore the potential these technologies and applications hold for advancing product design, development, marketing and sales.
“This format was inspired by the growth we have experienced in the last year, from the number of employees to the different industries we serve,” said Peter Stevenson, CEO of RTT USA. “We were thrilled so many clients were able to come through and experience the entire process while engaging directly with our employees.”
Some of the most innovative demonstrations allowed materials, colors and stitching to change at the click of a button on a car seat or sneaker by way of the Augmented Reality (AR) projector. The Chevy Sonic kiosk allowed users to configure exterior colors, interior fabrics and environments by way of RFID technology. All it takes is the swipe of a puck on the kiosk to change the car from a coupe to a hatchback, another puck finds the Sonic parked in front of the Roxy or in a large, open air environment.
At the Warrior Sports demo, users customized hockey gear and team jerseys on screen in realtime. The configurator used three-dimensional rendered illustrations to show how the players would look in their customized uniform on a field.
Tours allowed attendees to preview the latest hardware and RTT software and took them through point-of-sale systems, a marketing and sales experience, engineering software implementation and the latest in mixed reality demos.
Also on display were the latest software releases from RTT, including DeltaGen for Teamcenter and DeltaGen 11. DeltaGen for Teamcenter syncs product development data with the high-end visual experience, enhancing process automation. DeltaGen 11 which enables users in professional high-end visualization to make workflows more efficient across the entire product lifecycle – from design and development, to marketing and sales – all while significantly reducing time-to-market.
RTT partnered with NVIDIA, Rave Computer, Canon, iGi, Perceptive Pixel, Supermicro and Lawrence Technological University during Excite.
