17-Year-Old In Critical Condition After Hit And Run While Riding Bike

MACOMB COUNTY (WWJ) – The Macomb County Sheriff is searching for the driver of a car who struck a teen on a bicycle in Harrison Township Saturday night. Sheriff Anthony Wickersham says the 17-year-old girl is in critical condition.

“She was riding her bicycle … on the shoulder of the roadway, and yes, he left the roadway and struck her on the shoulder -whoever was driving this vehicle – then fled the scene, northbound on Jefferson,” said Wickersham.

“There was debris from the vehicle left at the scene which gives us a reason to believe that we are looking for a 2003 to 2007 Toyota Corolla – black in color,” said Wickersham.

The accident happened just before 11pm and police believe the driver was in a black Corolla which now has front end damage.

Anyone with information should call the County Sheriff.
