Fire Erupts At Old Highland Park Fire Station

HIGHLAND PARK (WWJ)  – Highland Park firefighters put out a blaze at their old Fire Station.

Highland Park fire department’s Sgt. Marlin Walton says the fire was contained to the water tower but he tells WWJ’s Kathryn Larson he believes this is the work of an arsonist.

Walton says in a 24-hour period they have battled three fires and says a fire in their old station is too close to home.

“We still have to move on despite everything that is going on we are going to be alright,” said Walton.

Walton said their manpower had to be split because of all of the arson related fires they are investigating and are urging the community to step-up to alert police to any suspicious behavior.
