Fun Facts From The Finals

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Now that the 2012 NBA Finals are over, it's time to look back at some of the interesting stats and nuggets from the series that saw the Miami Heat capture its second NBA championship in the last six years.

MVP: The Heat's LeBron James set a Heat franchise record with 697 total points in the 2012 playoffs, good for 30.3 points per game. James finished the 2012 postseason with 3,275 points, which was ranked 16th on the all-time NBA playoffs list.

He's now tied with his mentor, Heat president Pat Riley, for the most all-time playoff coaching wins with the Heat.

Running Out of Fingers: If Riley keeps this up, he'll start having to buy championship rings for his toes. With the championship win in 2012, Riley earned his eighth NBA championship. He won as a player in 1972, as an assistant coach in 1980, as a coach of the Lakers in 1982, 1985, 1987, 1988 and as the coach of the Heat in 2006.

Triple-Double's Galore: LeBron earned his eighth career playoff triple-double Thursday night. His 13 assists tied his playoff high. He fell two assists short of the all-time Heat playoff single-game record. It was the first Finals triple-double since...LeBron did it against the Mavericks last year.

Comeback Kids: According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the Heat became the first team in NBA history to win a championship after trailing in as many as three playoff series (trailed Indiana 1-2, trailed Boston 2-3, trailed Oklahoma City 0-1.

Battier's Boost: Shane Battier went 3-7 from behind the 3-point line in Game 5 and finished 15-26 (57 percent) from behind the arc in the Finals. He fell one 3-pointer short of tying the all-time Finals record for most 3-pointers in a five-game Finals.

Mark that Date: The Heat's 2012 NBA championship came almost six years to the day of the team's 2006 championship. Miami won the title in 2006 on June 20 and in 2012 on June 21.
