Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work

DETROIT (WWJ) -  It's the first official weekend of Summer, and the last place you want to spend it is stuck in construction traffic.

The following projects were announced by MDOT. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.

FULL CLOSURE:

I-75:

In Detroit, southbound I-75 will be closed from the I-375 interchange to I-96 from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for pavement repair. The detour is westbound I-94 to eastbound I-96 back to southbound I-75.

Access to southbound I-375 will be maintained, as the closure begins at the ramp from southbound I-75 (Chrysler) to southbound I-75 (Fisher). All entrance ramps to southbound I-75 from I-375 to Rosa Parks will be closed.

LANE CLOSURE:

I-75:

In Oakland County, the left two lanes of northbound I-75 will be closed from Big Beaver to Wattles roads from 9 p.m. Saturday until 11 a.m. Sunday for pavement repair.

I-94:

In Wayne County, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Friday, the right lane of eastbound I-94 will be closed from I-275 to Wayne Road for sign work.

In Macomb County, eastbound and westbound I-94 will be reduced to a single lane between 23 Mile and County Line roads from 9 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Monday for ongoing construction.

In Detroit, eastbound I-94 will be reduced to a single lane from Michigan Avenue to M-10 from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for ongoing road and bridge repair. All entrance ramps to eastbound I-94 from Michigan Avenue to the Lodge will be closed. Recommended alternate route is eastbound Michigan Avenue to Rosa Parks to northbound I-75 to eastbound I-94.

In Wayne County, beginning at 3 a.m. and ending at noon on Saturday, eastbound I-94 will be reduced to a single lane from Telegraph Road to Outer Drive in order for crews to install a traffic shift over M-39. After noon on Saturday, the left and center lanes of eastbound I-94 will be closed over M-39 with traffic shifted to the right lane and right shoulder in order to maintain two lanes during peak travel times. In addition, the ramp from Pelham Road to eastbound I-94 will be closed.  The lanes and ramp will open in mid-Sept.

In Wayne County, beginning at 6 a.m. and ending at 7 p.m. Saturday, westbound I-94 will be reduced to a single lane from Oakwood Drive to Pelham Road in order for crews to install a traffic shift over M-39. After 7 p.m. Saturday, the left and center lanes of westbound I-94 will be closed from Oakwood to Pelham with traffic shifted to the right lane and right shoulder to maintain two lanes during peak travel times.

In addition, the ramp from northbound M-39 to westbound I-94 will be closed.  The lanes and ramp will open in mid-Sept.

In Wayne County, from 5 a.m. until 9 a.m. Saturday, the ramp from westbound I-94 to southbound I-275 will be closed for ongoing bridge work.

I-696:

In Macomb County, the left lane of eastbound and westbound I-696 will be closed at Ryan Road from 9 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Monday for sign truss work.

In Oakland County, the right lane of westbound I-696 will be closed from Farmington to Drake roads from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday for maintenance work.

M-14:

In Wayne County, the left two lanes of eastbound M-14 will be closed from Sheldon to Haggerty roads from 9 p.m. Friday until 10 a.m. Saturday. From 9 p.m. Saturday until 10 a.m. Sunday, the right two lanes will be closed. The lane closures are needed for pavement repair.

M-59:

In Macomb County, the right two lanes of eastbound M-59 will be closed from Van Dyke Avenue to Hayes Road from 9 p.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Tuesday for pavement repair.
