Free-Swinging Boesch Can’t Escape Slump

If this isn’t a career crossroads for Brennan Boesch, it’s definitely an ‘S’ curve.

Boesch went hitless Tuesday and now is without a hit in his last three games — and he only played once in Pittsburgh, where Tigers manager Jim Leyland had other choices to try in three games without a designated hitter.

But Leyland is now writing Boesch’s name into the batting order out of desperation and because at this time he has no viable alternatives.

Boesch, according to Leyland, is his own biggest enemy. He tries so hard and wants to succeed so badly he can’t let the game slow down and come to him.

It shows in his swings.
