New Senior Monitoring Tech From Michigan Companies

ROCHESTER -- Michigan entrepreneurs Wednesday introduced Support And Security, a new service for aging seniors that tracks their well-being.

Serial entrepreneurs Jan and Marshall Rice introduced the service, along with partner SenseAide, a Rochester company that has developed an affordable care platform to observe, care for, and respond to the needs of our aging population.

Through Support And Security, a care caller contacts the senior regularly, using a script developed during the initial interview. This daily care call information is entered and stored in the portal and is emailed to designated parties. It establishes trends and history so doctors may track changes. In urgent situations text messages alert immediately.

The senior may designate others to have access to this data, including family members and clergy.

Also available are wireless sensors that signal when a change in daily routine occurs.

Customized video tablets are also available and create face to face interaction using Skype.

SenseAide was launched at last fall's DEMO conference of assistive technologies.

In the United States today, there are 8 million seniors confined to their homes due to age related illnesses. The annual spend on home based care is more than $18 billion and is expected to grow 7 percent  over the next decade. There are more than 20,000 care agencies serving this market. SenseAide has staked a unique position in an expanding and ever-changing marketplace.
