John Porter, Former President Of Eastern Michigan University, Dies

YPSILANTI (AP) – John Porter, the former president of Eastern Michigan University, has died.

He was 80 years old. Porter’s death was announced Friday by the school that he led for 10 years, until 1989.

He was also superintendent of Detroit schools for two years.

Porter reportedly died peacefully, but no other details were released. He lived in Ann Arbor.
