Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work

DETROIT (WWJ) - Know before you go! Don't let construction activities spoil your weekend plans.

The following projects were announced by MDOT. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.

I-275:

In Wayne County, northbound I-275 will have a single lane open from Plymouth Road to Hines Drive from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Friday for ongoing bridge work.

In Oakland County, northbound I-275 will have the right lane closed from 9 Mile to 10 Mile roads from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. Saturday for maintenance work.

I-696:

In Oakland County, eastbound I-696 will have the right lane closed from Middlebelt to Inkster roads from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. Saturday for maintenance work.

In Macomb County, beginning at 9 p.m. Friday and ending by 5:30 a.m. Monday, the left lane of westbound I-696 will be closed at Ryan Road for sign foundation work.

In Macomb County, beginning at 9 p.m. Friday and ending at 7 p.m. Sunday, all ramps at the M-3 (Gratiot Ave)/I-696 interchange will be closed for pavement work. Ramp traffic will be detoured to M-97 (Groesbeck Hwy).

I-75:

In Oakland County, multiple lanes will be closed on northbound I-75 from Giddings to Baldwin roads for extensive pavement repair. Only one lane will be open from 10 p.m. Friday until 4 p.m. Saturday, and two lanes will be open from 4 p.m. Saturday until 4 p.m. Sunday. After 4 p.m. Sunday, all lanes will be open.

In Oakland County, from 8 p.m. Saturday until 11 a.m. Sunday, the right two lanes of northbound I-75 will be closed from Big Beaver to Wattles roads, and on southbound I-75 from Squirrel to Adams roads, for pavement repair.

In Oakland County, beginning at 9 p.m. and ending at 11:59 p.m. Sunday, the left two lanes of southbound I-75 will be closed at Woodward Heights (near 9 Mile) for sign work.

In Detroit, beginning at midnight and ending by 5 a.m. Monday, the left two lanes of southbound I-75 will be closed at State Fair Street for sign work.

I-94:

In Wayne County, currently, the left lane of northbound and southbound Haggerty and Belleville roads are closed over I-94 for ongoing bridge work until 3 p.m. Friday.

In Wayne County, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Friday, one lane will be closed on the ramp from westbound I-94 to I-275 for overhead sign work.

In Detroit, from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday, eastbound and westbound I-94 will have a single lane open between Michigan Avenue and I-75 for ongoing resurfacing and bridge work. All entrance ramps to eastbound and westbound I-94 will be closed with the exception of northbound and southbound I-75 to eastbound I-94, and northbound M-10 to eastbound I-94. Motorists are encouraged to use Michigan Avenue to avoid delays.

In Detroit/Wayne County, beginning at 6 a.m. and ending at 8 p.m. Saturday, the left lane of eastbound will be closed from I-75 to 8 Mile Road, and the left lane of westbound I-94 closed from 8 Mile Road to Gratiot Ave, for detailed lighting inspections.

In Wayne County, beginning at 5 a.m. and ending at 7 p.m. on Saturday, one lane will be closed on the ramp from westbound I-94 to I-275 for overhead sign installation.

In Macomb County, from 9 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Monday, westbound I-94 will be reduced to a single lane from County Line to 23 Mile roads for ongoing resurfacing.

I-96:

In Oakland County, beginning at 10 a.m. and ending by 6 p.m. Saturday, westbound I-96 will have a single lane closed at Kent Lake Road for ongoing bridge work.

In Oakland County, beginning at 7 a.m. and ending by 6 p.m. Saturday, eastbound I-96 will have two lanes closed at Kent Lake Road for ongoing bridge work.

M-10 (Northwestern Highway):

In Oakland County, from 7 a.m. Saturday until 7 p.m. Sunday, a single lane on northbound and southbound M-10 will be closed between Orchard Lake and Inkster roads for pavement repair.

M-39 (Southfield Freeway):

In Wayne County, from 5 a.m. Saturday until 7 p.m. Sunday, northbound M-39 from Allen to Van Born roads, and southbound M-39 from Oakwood Blvd to Pinecrest Drive, will be reduced to a single lane for ongoing bridge work at the I-94/M-39 interchange.

In Wayne County, beginning at 7 p.m. Sunday and ending in late July, the left lane of northbound M-39 from Allen to Van Born roads, and the left lane of southbound M-39 from Fern Street to Pinecrest Drive, will be closed for ongoing bridge work at the I-94/M-39 interchange.

M-59:

In Oakland County, beginning at 9 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m. on Saturday, westbound M-59 will be reduced to a single lane at Squirrel Road for maintenance work.

Beginning the week of Monday, July 2: 

I-94:

In Wayne County, the Quirk Road pedestrian overpass (located west of Belleville Road) will be closed from 7 a.m. Monday until 3 p.m. Tuesday for ongoing bridge work.

In Wayne County, the left lane of westbound I-94 will be closed at Vining Road from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday for sign work.

In Macomb County, from 9 p.m. Monday until midnight Tuesday, the left two lanes of westbound I-94 will be closed at 10 Mile Road for sign work.

M-10 (Lodge Freeway):

In Detroit, beginning at midnight and ending by 5 a.m. on Tuesday, the left two lanes of southbound M-10 will be closed at Euclid Road for sign work.
