Church Closes Doors After Nearly 50 Years In Community

ROSEVILLE (WWJ) – After nearly 50 years – St. Donald Catholic Church is closing for good after holding one last mass in Roseville Sunday.

WWJ”s Beth Fisher reports that the pastor at St. Donald is retiring and four other churches are merging in metro Detroit.

Twenty-two year member Karen Sudio says it’s not easy to see the church close.

“Pretty bad, no one every thinks their church is going to leave them, it’s a sad day,” said Sudio.

Parishioners were able to kiss the altar at the rite of leaving, then the door was locked and a ribbon was tied on the church for the official closing.
