Police Seek Suspect In Separate Fondling Incidents

ROYAL OAK (WWJ) - Police in Royal Oak and Berkley are investigating criminal sexual incidents that might be related.

A woman told authorities Friday that she saw a man who appeared to be fondling himself on South Main Street in Royal Oak. He followed her and a friend until they ducked into a business and called police.

The suspect was described as a white man around 40 years old, 6 feet tall, with a heavy build and dark hair. He was wearing sunglasses, khaki pants and a dark polo shirt.

Police said that matches the description of a suspect in an incident in Berkley in which a young girl was groped by a man posing as a police officer  at a park near the Berkley Community Center.

The man, who told two 12-year-old girls he had a report they were causing trouble, was wearing a yellow shirt and khaki shorts and was holding a walkie-talkie type device.  (The police sketch above depicts the man described by the girls).

Anyone who recognize the man in the sketch or has information about either of these incident is asked to contact Berkley or Royal Oak police.
