Three Reasons Why Penn State Football Should Be Suspended
1. This was institutional abuse at the highest level. While Jerry Sandusky was the perpetrator of these reprehensible crimes, it was football coach Joe Paterno and the administration who were the enablers.
2. It was a clear case of the tail wagging the dog. Penn State football and Paterno had become bigger than the university itself, and felt empowered as such to conduct what was essentially a coverup.
3. Any triumphs Penn State experiences on the football field for awhile will pale in comparison to the shame of this scandal. Changing the cast and going back to the football business as usual is just wrong.
