DEARBORN, Mich. (WWJ) – Ford is recalling one of its most important new products.

The recall involves the brand new 2013 Escape SUV. Ford found out that the carpet padding was positioned improperly on the drivers side, and that could cause drivers to hit the side of the brake pedal when switching from the accelerator. While there could be a safety hazard, Ford says it doesn’t know of any crashes in the real world.

The new Escapes launched in late spring, and Ford has only sold about 10,000 of them.
