Mobile Technology Association Of Michigan Absorbs Connectech

DETROIT -- The Mobile Technology Association of Michigan Monday announced the merger of MTAM with Connectech, the association for technology professionals formerly affiliated with Automation Alley.

MTAM will be absorbing all assets of Connectech, and reaching out to all current and past members to join and participate in MTAM's local and statewide programs.

Jeremy Eckhous, treasurer and a director of Connectech, helped to negotiate the terms of the merger.

Said MTAM CEO Linda Daichendt: "MTAM was approached by Connectech with an offer to merge their organization with MTAM. In evaluating the opportunity, we quickly recognized that there was a good fit between the organizations. Connectech was formed in 2009 to promote the tremendous wealth of advanced technology and engineering talent in Southeastern Michigan, and to provide a nexus for networking and exchange of ideas.   In 2012, there is still an urgent need to focus on promoting the advanced engineering and technology capabilities of the region. However, in the last 18-24 months we've seen explosive growth in those areas as it relates to the mobile-wireless technology space, particularly in the transportation, healthcare, government, education, and infotainment sectors."

Added Daichendt: "The Mobile Technology Association of Michigan offers the perfect focal point for moving the mobile-wireless technology conversation forward, and putting ideas into action.  Mobile-wireless is a very big tent that includes not just mobile application development, but also focus areas such as machine-to-machine communication, vehicle telematics, vehicle infotainment technology, education, mobile health, enterprise mobility and much more. The merger with Connectech expands MTAM's reach and brings to MTAM professionals from the IT, digital marketing, research and media communities.  We believe the addition of these communities will add a valuable strategic focus to enhance the existing technology and development focus that is already so much a part of the MTAM organization."

The merger and incorporation of Connectech into MTAM is already under way, and all existing Connectech members will be provided offers to join MTAM and to become actively involved on committees, event planning, and opportunities for their employers to become engaged with and benefit from MTAM. As a first gesture of outreach to Connectech members, MTAM is offering special incentives for Connectech members interested in attending MTAM's 'Mobile Moves Michigan' mobile / wireless technology conference at Motor City Casino on July 30 and 31.

Connectech members interested in learning more about those incentives may inquire at info@GoMobileMichigan.org.
