Turner Gets Called Up For Tuesday Start

RHP Jacob Turner was called up to start Tuesday night in place of injured LHP Drew Smyly. Turner was brought up earlier this season to sub for RHP Doug Fister and pitched well. He was 4-2 with a 3.16 ERA in 10 starts for Toledo.

–RHP Luis Marte was optioned to Class AAA Toledo, clearing a roster spot for RHP Jacob Turner, who was called up to start Tuesday. Marte retired the only batter he faced during his latest stint with the Tigers. On the season, he has a 3.63 ERA in 10 appearances.

–CF Austin Jackson improved his streak of consecutive games with a run scored to 13 when he scored an unearned run in the first inning Monday. Jackson reached on an error, stole second and scored on successive groundouts. The 13-game streak is the Tigers’ longest since OF Johnny Groth in 1950 had a 13-game streak in August 1950.
