With Scouts Watching, Turner Gets Scorched

The end of July is approaching, and that means hot weather and baseball trade rumors.

A number of scouts were in Detroit on Tuesday night, supposedly to eyeball top prospect Jacob Turner in his spot start in place of the injured Drew Smyly.

They didn't see much, with Turner giving up three home runs and seven runs in his two innings against the Angels.

However, short-term results aren't all that scouts base their opinions on.

They look for stuff, composure, what fine-tuning needs to be made, things that will give them an indication of just how helpful the object of their attention can be.
