Holland Woman, 84, Has Skydiving Wish Granted

HOLLAND (WWJ/AP) - An 84-year-old Holland woman has realized her dream -- of jumping out of a plane from 10,000 feet.

Edna Doyle went skydiving on Friday at Allegan City Airport.

Doyle got the chance to skydive through Wish of a Lifetime, a foundation that helps seniors fulfill their dreams, The Holland Sentinel reported.

Doyle, a resident of Holland retirement community Freedom Village, wasn't alone when she took the plunge. A Skydive Allegan instructor was strapped to her back.

"It was a little scary when they opened the (plane) door and the wind was blowing and howling. I couldn't hear myself think," Doyle told the Sentinel following the jump. "I felt so insecure when I had to let go of the side of the plane and cross my hands in front of my chest. But then we just leaned forward and off we went. The view was lovely."

Two buses full of fellow Freedom Village residents made the trip to watch Doyle skydive.

"It was exhilarating," Doyle said, adding that her next adventure might be ziplining.
