Corrections Officer Suspended Over 'Dark Knight' Remark

ROYAL OAK (WWJ/AP) - A Michigan Department of Corrections parole officer has been suspended with pay after making threatening remarks while buying tickets to see "The Dark Knight Rises" in metro Detroit.

Police reports say the unidentified man was buying tickets at the Emagine Theater in Royal Oak when he told the ticket seller: "If I don't get good seats, I'm going to shank somebody."

Security personnel called police.

Royal Oak police chief Corrigan O'Donohue tells the Detroit Free Press the remark was "profoundly stupid" but the man later told officers he was "apologetic."

The man wasn't arrested.

MDOC spokesman Russ Marlan says a department investigation continues.

Twelve people were killed and dozens were injured last week in Aurora, Colo., after a gunman opened fire at a packed midnight showing of the movie.

The alleged shooter, 24-year-old James Holmes, is being held without bond. He is scheduled to appear in court again Monday as prosecutors prepare to lay out the formal charges he will face.
