Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work

DETROIT (WWJ) - Know before you go! There’s plenty of construction to go around this weekend, so save yourself some time and hassle by planning your route to avoid the many work zones in Metro Detroit.

The following projects were announced by MDOT. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.

TOTAL CLOSURE:

I-75:

In Detroit, northbound I-75 will be closed from I-96 to I-375 from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for extensive pavement repair. The posted detour directs drivers west on I-96 to eastbound I-94 back to northbound I-75. Traffic heading downtown will follow the detour and use southbound I-75 to I-375 or southbound M-10. The ramp from eastbound I-96 to M-10 and Rosa Parks Blvd. will remain open.

LANE/RAMP CLOSURES:

I-275:

In Wayne County, southbound I-275 will have a single lane open from Tyler to Hannan roads from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Friday for ongoing bridge work.

In Wayne County, northbound and southbound I-275 will have a single lane open between Warren Road and Ann Arbor Trail from 10 p.m. Friday until 6 p.m. Saturday for ongoing bridge work. From 10 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Saturday, there will be two separate 15 minute full closures at Warren Road in order for crews to set bridge beams.

In Wayne County, northbound I-275 will have a single lane open from Palmer to Ford roads from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. Saturday for ongoing bridge work.

I-696:

In Oakland County, the right lane on the westbound I-696 ramp to southbound I-275 will be closed from 11 p.m. Friday until noon on Sunday for bridge maintenance. The westbound I-696 ramp to northbound M-5 will remain open.

I-75:

In Oakland County, the right two lanes of southbound I-75 will be closed from Adams to Coolidge roads from 8 p.m. Friday until 11 a.m. Saturday for pavement repair. In addition, the ramp from Adams Road to southbound I-75 will be closed.

In Oakland County, the right two lanes of northbound I-75 will be closed from Baldwin to Sashabaw roads from 10 p.m. Friday until 3 p.m. Sunday for pavement repair. In addition, the ramps from Baldwin Road and southbound Joslyn Road to northbound I-75 will be closed.

In Wayne County, the right lane of southbound I-75 will be closed at Cicotte Street (Lincoln Park) from 8 a.m. Saturday until 4 p.m. Sunday for sign work.

I-94:

In Detroit, eastbound and westbound I-94 will be reduced to a single lane between US-12 (Michigan Ave) and West Grand Blvd from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for ongoing resurfacing and bridge work.

In Macomb County, eastbound and westbound I-94 will be reduced to a single lane between 23 Mile and County Line roads from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for ongoing resurfacing work.

In Macomb County, the eastbound I-94 exit to New Haven Road will close at 9 p.m. Friday and open on Friday, August 3. A detour will be posted.

In Macomb County, the westbound 23 Mile Road ramp to westbound I-94 will close at 9 p.m.  Friday and open on Friday, August 3. A detour will be posted.

In Wayne County, the left two lanes of eastbound I-94 will be closed from I-275 to Vining Road from 4 a.m. until 10 a.m. Sunday for ongoing bridge and sign work. In addition, the ramp from northbound Wayne Road to eastbound I-94 will be closed.

In Wayne County, eastbound I-94 will have the two left lanes closed from Telegraph to Outer Drive from 5 a.m. until noon on Sunday for ongoing bridge work at the I-94/M-39 interchange.

I-96:

In Oakland County, westbound I-96 will have a single lane closed at Kent Lake Road from 8 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Saturday for ongoing bridge work.

In Oakland County, two lanes will be closed on westbound I-96 at Milford Road from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. Saturday, and on eastbound I-96 at Milford Road from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday for ongoing bridge work.

In Oakland County, northbound and southbound Milford Road will be closed under I-96 from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday for bridge work. A detour will be posted. At 9 p.m. Sunday, the ramp from westbound I-96 to southbound Milford Road will open.

M-10 (Northwestern Highway):

In Oakland County, the right lane of northbound and southbound M-10 will be closed between Orchard Lake and Inkster roads from 5 a.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Monday for resurfacing.

M-14:

In Oakland County, westbound M-14 will have two lanes closed from I-275 to Sheldon Road from 8 p.m. Friday until noon on Saturday, and again from 8 p.m. Saturday until noon on Sunday, for pavement repair.

M-59:

In Macomb County, the right two lanes of westbound M-59 will be closed from Groesbeck Highway to Card Road from 5:30 a.m. until noon on Sunday for maintenance.

In Macomb County, two lanes will be closed on eastbound M-59 from Van Dyke Ave to Hayes Road from 9 p.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Tuesday for pavement repair.

Beginning the week of Monday, July 30: 

I-94:

In Macomb County, eastbound and westbound I-94 will have single lane closures nightly beginning at 7 p.m. and ending by 6 a.m. Monday through Friday between 23 Mile and County Line roads for ongoing resurfacing.

M-10 (Northwestern Highway):

In Oakland County, the right lane of northbound M-10 will be closed from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. daily from Beck to Inkster roads Monday through Friday for curb repair.

In Oakland County, the left lane of northbound and southbound M-10 will be closed from 12 Mile to Inkster roads 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. nightly Monday through Friday for resurfacing.

M-14:

In Wayne County, the right lane of eastbound M-14 will be closed under I-275 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Monday for sign replacement.
