Deadline To Apply For Antlerless Deer Licenses Approaches

Southfield (CBS 62) - The Michigan DNR is encouraging hunters to apply for their antlerless deer license by August 15. Hunters, ages 9-16, can buy a junior antlerless deer license at stores through August 15.

Apply for permits and buy licenses online at the DNR's E-license website.

There's a limited number of permits that the Michigan Department of Natural Resources issues to hunters in the state. The licenses are awarded through a lottery process. There's also a specific number of permits allotted for each area of the state. The DNR regulates the number of female deer harvested in these areas to maintain a healthy deer population according to their measurements.

Things you'll need when buying your licenses online.

  • Your DMU (Deer Management Unit) - can be found on the DNR's website.
  • Drivers licence
  • Land owner's phone number if you are a guest or rent property

Before you check out online consider making a donation to Sportsmen Against Hunger. Proceeds will go toward paying for processing and distribution of donated wild game to help feed local families in need. Donations can be made in $20 increments or as little as $1.
