Funeral Arrangements Made For Woman Who Died From Flesh Eating Bacteria

FARMINGTON (WWJ) - Funeral arrangements for Crystal Spencer, the 33-year-old Farmington Hills woman who died from a flesh-eating disease, have been finalized.

The service will take place August 8 at 11 a.m. at the Farmington First Union United Methodist Church in Farmington.

The family's attorney, Brian Benner, wants an autopsy to discover what went wrong after Spencer had a minor medical procedure performed.

Benner said that the Oakland County Medical Examiner has been contacted and asked to do a private autopsy, if that is possible.

"We have real concerns about - that she possibly got this infection - the procedure may not have been done appropriately that's the working assumption right now and we are seeking all the medical records to confirm whether that's true or not," said Benner.

Benner says Crystal was hospitalized June 30 to have a boil lanced. The Crystal Spencer Recovery Fund at the LOC Credit Union in Farmington has been set-up to help the family with funeral costs.
