DETROIT (WWJ) – Crystal Spencer, 33, of Farmington Hills, has lost her high-profile battle with a flesh-eating disease,with family and friends confirming via Facebook that she died Sunday.

Spencer had spent the last month hospitalized, undergoing surgeries to try to stop the disease from spreading. Her family has said she might have contracted the illness after going to a hospital to have a boil lanced.

She was also diabetic, sources said.

Doctors had reportedly given her a 33 percent chance of survival.
