Eminem Beats Facebook Record With 60 Million 'Likes'

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) Detroit's own Eminem may be a powerhouse on stage, but he's also swinging big in another arena -- social media.

The rapper beat out every other big star in the race to Facebook fandom and now has more likes than any other living person -- 60 million -- beating Lady Gaga, Rihanna and even Justin Bieber. There has to be a rap dis in there somewhere.

According to Facebook stats, Eminem picked up nearly 1 million followers in July alone, though he never seems to interact with fans on it. His page posts videos and press release links without comment.

So, what does he do with all that social media might? He uses Facebook mostly to promote the release "welcome to: Our House" from Slaughterhouse. Eminem is executive producer of the album that will be released August 28 through Shady/Interscope Records.

The release is described on Eminem Facebook's page as "One of the most anticipated and explosive albums of the year, welcome to: Our House, executive produced by Eminem, is the second album from the creative collaboration of Crooked I, Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz and Royce da 5'9". Brash and outspoken, bringing together the East Coast, West Coast and Detroit."

That's a lot of hype, but there is a place where Eminem is not on top: He comes in 19th in the Twitter world with 11.8 million followers, well behind Lady Gaga's 27.8 million followers and Justin Bieber's 25.8 million.
