WATERFORD TWP. (WWJ) – Police in Waterford Township are investigating a fatal accident that happened on M-59 early Thursday morning.

WWJ’s Ron Dewey reports the accident happened on M-59 near Elizabeth Lake Road around 3 a.m.

Police say a 2007 Chevy Aveo was traveling eastbound on M-59 (Highland Road) when it rear ended a bread delivery truck that was stopped at the light for Elizabeth Lake Road.

Police say the car’s lone occupant, 23-year-old female from White Lake, was killed in the crash. The driver of the delivery truck, a 42-year-old man from Royal Oak, was not injured.

Police say alcohol or drugs do not appear to have been factors in crash. An investigation is ongoing.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have witness the accident to contact Officer Stanley Mathewson at 248-618-6086 or Sergeant Kevin Kazyak at 248-618-6073.
