Dirks Reinstated From DL; Kelly Designated For Assignment

The Tigers today have recalled the injury rehabilitation assignment of outfielder Andy Dirks from Triple A Toledo and reinstated him from the disabled list. Dirks hit .216 (8×37) with a double, two home runs and five RBI in 10 games with the Mud Hens. He had been sidelined since May 31 with right achilles tendinitis.

To create room on the club’s 25-man roster for Dirks, the Tigers today designated the contract of outfielder Don Kelly for assignment. Kelly hit .175 (18×103) in 64 games with Detroit in 2012.
