Young Boy Dies In Accident At Fairgrounds

BLAIR TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a 6-year-old boy who was struck by a pickup truck while riding a bike at a fair in northern Michigan has died.

The Grand Traverse County sheriff's department tells WWTV-WWUP that Ezekiel Goodwin died Thursday morning at a hospital in Grand Rapids, where he was taken after being hit Wednesday at the Northwestern Michigan Fair. The Grand Traverse County boy had been pinned under the truck.

The Traverse City Record-Eagle reports the boy was riding at the fairgrounds in Blair Township, near Traverse City, when the truck driven by a 39-year-old Kingsley man struck him. Investigators say the man was backing up and apparently didn't see the boy. Authorities are investigating.

The boy's family was at the fair to show livestock.
