ROYAL OAK (AP) – A Michigan girl whose face was mauled by a pet raccoon as an infant had some fun at the zoo, one day before she’s scheduled to begin a series of reconstructive surgeries.
The first procedure for 10-year-old Charlotte Ponce will be Wednesday at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak.
So Tuesday, she and her family were guests of the Detroit Zoo.
Charlotte was only 3 months old when the raccoon attacked her in the family’s home in Ravenna, near Muskegon.
