Traffic Tie-Ups Certain Downtown Saturday
DETROIT (WWJ) - Give yourself more time and expect a traffic mess downtown Saturday afternoon and evening when two big events brings huge crowds to Detroit.
The Kenny Chesney/Tim McGraw concert at Ford Field at 4:30 p.m. and Tigers game at Comerica Park 7:05 p.m.
With a combined 85,000 people expected for the events, Olympia Parking is holding all the parking lots it controls east of Woodward Ave. for guests attending the Tigers game. Parking lots located west of Woodward will be available on a first come first serve basis to both Tigers and Kenny Chesney fans. Tailgating will also be prohibited in Olympia lots to ensure there is ample parking.
If you're looking for some pre-event fun, the CBS Buzz Tour will be outside Ford Field for the WYCD Beach Bash. Featuring CBS reality star veterans, activities and giveaways, the buzz tour bus will be on Brush street from 1 to 4 p.m. (More info here).
Meantime, works crews will be out in full force this weekend, as summer road work continues in metro Detroit. Click here for details.
