Feds Raid Taylor, Troy Electronics Stores
TAYLOR (WWJ) - Two small metro Detroit electronics stores were raided Tuesday by Homeland Security agents.
One of the ACE Wholesale, Inc. storefronts is located on Telegraph Road in Taylor, where it shares a duplex with a Mattress World, managed by Jim Zupke.
"It's an electronics wholesale business. They buy and sell electronics and, apparently ... well, apparently, I just don't know," Zupke told WWJ Newsradio 950's Mike Campbell. "This is unusual. They've been quiet neighbors ... they do their business, we do our business ... nothing unusual."
While a man in a landscape truck put plywood over the broken-out front window on the store, Homeland Security agents and dogs worked the back of the store -- including a "dock" area where a rented box-truck sat half-loaded or emptied.
A separate team of Homeland Security agents and local police, meantime, raided a second ACE Wholesale store on Big Beaver near Livernois in Troy.
Homeland Security and police have so far declined comment on the raids or what led to them.
