3 Reasons A Labor Stoppage In The NHL Would Be Ridiculous
By: Pat Caputo
1. Zach Parise and Gary Suter just got $98 million contracts as free agents. Jiri Hudler got $16 million. The players have never had it better, even the mediocre ones.
2. The NHL is finally making progress with its national TV contract with NBC, and its relatively new NBC Sports Network, which is building much of its programming around the league. This would be the ultimate momentum stopper.
3. Nobody wins if the league doesn't open on time, and both sides realize it after a full season was cancelled not long ago.
