Elderly Man Killed In Telegraph Road Crash

PONTIAC (WWJ) – A 79-year-old  Oakland County man involved in a car wreck that shut down Telegraph Road Wednesday afternoon has died.

Sheriff’s officials said the Independence Twp. man was traveling on the northbound side of the road near Old Telegraph when he crashed into the back of a semi-truck that was slowing down for a red light.

The elderly motorist attempted to change lanes, but side-swiped a van and ended up hitting the truck. He was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

The other drivers involved in the crash were not hurt.

Police said the man was not wearing a seatbelt. His name was not immediately released.
