Glitch In United’s Computer System Has Flights Backed-Up Across U.S.

ROMULUS (WWJ) – Across the U.S. United Airlines flights are experiencing delays due to a network outage and now the computer problems are affecting those traveling through the Motor City.

“It’s really weird, I actually used to be a customer service rep for United so I bet they are just dying today,” said Christina Golding of Sterling Heights.

“So instead of the computer doing all of your check-ins … you have to manually write out the tickets .. you have to get people through security, … it’s a lot more work and you know, there’s a lot riding on it,” Golding said to WWJ’s Kathryn Larson.

Golding said if there was a color code for this type of issue … it would definitely be a code red.

“I think it is painful, but I think it’s inevitable,” said Sateesh Andra of San Francisco. “They are going to help me out because I have a flight to go to Singapore tomorrow and I just want to make sure I get enough rest before I get there.”

Andra said despite the long layovers he understands the frustration on both ends.

“They couldn’t check in anybody … they do a great job … but they can’t help (the computer problems),” he said.

Due to the computer glitch none of the self terminals are working, so if you are heading out on a flight you’ll need to factor in some extra time.
