Man Pleads Guilty To Impregnating 11-Year-Old Girl

MOUNT CLEMENS (WWJ/AP) - A 29-year-old Warren man who authorities say sexually assaulted and impregnated his girlfriend's 11-year-old daughter has pleaded guilty to first-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Trevaun C. Brooks made the plea Tuesday, the day he was schedule to go on trial in Macomb County Circuit Court. Court records show he also pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Judge Mary Chrzanowski scheduled his sentencing for Sept. 27. The first-degree criminal sexual conduct charge carries a penalty of at least 25 years in prison because of the victim's age.

Prosecutors accused Brooks of having sex with the child last year while he was living with the girl and her mother, his then-girlfriend, at their Mount Clemens home. Brooks also worked briefly as a janitor at the girl's charter school before his arrest in September.

The girl, who gave birth last August, said she didn't know she was pregnant until she had the baby.

The now 12-year-old girl and the baby are now under the care of state protection services.
