Three Reasons The Detroit Tigers Got Exactly What They Deserved In A 9-8 Loss To Kansas City Tuesday

By: Pat Caputo

1. Not only did pitching ace Justin Verlander allow seven runs in the first two innings, but all three runs he allowed in the first inning came after there were two outs.

2. Left-hander Phil Coke was put into the game specifically to get left-handed hitting third baseman Mike Moustakas out with a runner in scoring position and the game tied 8-8. Instead, Moustakas produced the game-winning hit for the Royals off Coke.

3. With one out and the tying run at third base in the ninth inning, the Tigers' best hitter and resident MVP candidate, Miguel Cabrera, struck out.
