Great Lakes Angels Celebrating 10 Years Of Investing

BIRMINGHAM -- Great Lakes Angels is celebrating its 10th year as an investor group, as well as being Michigan's original angel investor group.

In observance of the anniversary, Great Lakes Angels will open its next Deal Night meeting to accredited and angel investors who are not members of an angel group but who would like to consider joining up.

The 10th Anniversary Deal Night will be held Monday, Sept. 17 from 5 to 8 p.m. Accredited investors who apply to dweaver@glangels.org and are approved will receive information on the meeting location.

Four companies will be presenting at the meeting:

* Are You a Human, http://areyouahuman.com. The company offers simple, fun games to replace CAPTCHAs, those awful squiggly words that authenticate a user as a person rather than a machine. Research has shown that CAPTCHAs are failed more than a quarter of the time, and decrease signups by 25 percent.

* Coliant Corp., http://powerlet.com. Coliant is the global design and distribution leader for Powerlet's rugged electrical accessories in the multi-billion powersport industry.

* Greenlancer, www.greenlancer.com. GreenLancer is a Web-based engineering firm that specializes in clean technology. GreenLancer provides engineering deliverables and support to clients on all sides of clean-tech industry including: contractors, manufacturing, and owners.

* InPore Technologies, www.InPore.com. The company provides Silapore particles, which provide unique and beneficial properties for all plastic resins across a broad range of applications and in particular the $12.6 billion global membrane market.

The Great Lakes Angels is a nonprofit corporation that seeks serious, active investors only.

The mission of the Great Lakes Angels organization is to organize and mentor angels and provide a forum for them to grow in knowledge and wealth and foster more of the same -- to help invest in entrepreneurial companies in the region.

It offers numerous deal opportunities, high-level content and quality speakers and panelists on key issues of angel investing.
