Hockeytown Cafe Re-Opens For Lions, Tigers Games

DETROIT– One of metro Detroit sports fans' favorite watering holes will re-open, at least partially, for the Detroit Lions pre-season game Thursday and Tigers home game Friday.

No injuries were reported in the fire that erupted Tuesday night, reportedly in the kitchen.  The fire department said it may have been caused by grease in a kitchen ventilation system.

The fire was quickly contained and Hockeytown shut down Wednesday to assess the damage, clean up the water and smoke damage.

But water damage won't keep Hockeytown down. The first level of Hockeytown Café and its outdoor patio will open at 4 p.m. Thursday, prior to the Detroit Lions preseason home game, and again at 3 p.m. Friday, prior to the Detroit Tigers home game.

The restaurant will provide beverage and bar service on the first level through the late evening as well as serve a limited menu of grilled items until 8 p.m. on the outdoor patio.

Patrons can get hot dogs, hamburgers, brats and Italian sausage as well as a variety of side dishes.
