MTV Cancels Jersey Shore

By: Bill McAllister

There will be no more Gym, Tan or Laundry for MTV's incredibly successful Jersey Shore. The cable television network announced Thursday that next season will be the last for the show that debuted in 2009. First of all, I can't believe it's only been on for that long. Doesn't it seem like we've been hearing about The Situation and Snooki for a lot longer?

If you've been living under a rock, Jersey Shore was the highest rated show in MTV's 30-year history. It featured eight guidos and guidettes who lived, fought, drank and slept together. They became very popular, very fast. It is rumored that they will each make $150,000 per episode in the final season! Ratings however have dipped and life changes sorta got in the way. Snooki getting pregnant and subsequently giving birth doesn't exactly play into the hard-partying lifestyle that goes with the Jersey Shore.

Will we ever see The Situation or J-Woww or Pauly D in anything else? Not sure, stranger things have happened. Who would have ever expected the lead singer of The Funky Bunch to go onto be an A-list actor in Hollywood? With shows like Honey Boo Boo Child still haunting the airwaves, you'll see, we'll be clamoring for the days of Jersey Shore.
