Information Management Firm Hires Former Newspaper Publisher: James Stephanak, former publisher of the Kalamazoo Gazette and executive with MLive Media Group, has joined Team Support Services LLC, as chief marketing officer. In this new role, Stephanak will oversee all sales and marketing initiatives, which include business development, account management and customer relations for the records and information management firm. Stephanak, who started with the locally based company on Sept. 1, leads business development, one of three TSS "centers of excellence." He will work in concert with the leaders of the other two centers: Jeffrey McParlan, who heads enterprise operations as the company's chief operations officer, which includes global customer inquiry management, electronic and physical archive services, inventory management and information technology; and Peter Fierke, who leads resource governance in his role as CFO, which includes vendor management, finance and human resources. Stephanak comes to Team Support Services after serving as director of administration for strategic implementation at MLive Media Group, which includes the Kalamazoo Gazette. He was publisher and chief executive officer of the Gazette from 2004 until this year. Before then, he served 11 years in leadership roles, including general manager, at the Patriot-News in Harrisburg, Pa., after spending the previous 13 years at the Grand Rapids (Mich.) Press in circulation, advertising and sales. He is a U.S. Navy veteran. Stephanak is an active member of the Kalamazoo Regional Chamber of Commerce immediate past chairman and recent interim president) and Greater Kalamazoo United Way (immediate past chairman). He has been co-chair for the March of Dimes Signature Chef Auction, and a member of the Downtown Kalamazoo Inc. board, Leadership Kalamazoo Advisory Council, Hackett Catholic Central Leadership Advisory Council and the WMU External Advisory Board. Two VPs Named At Dow Corning: Dow Corning announced Tuesday that the company had appointed Eric Peeters as vice president for Dow Corning's Electronics Solutions, effective Sept. 1. Peeters takes over from James Helwick, who has led Dow Corning's Electronics Business since 2010. Helwick has been asked to lead the extensive and quickly growing Electronics innovation portfolio, building on his vast application and technology expertise. Peeters joined Dow Corning in 1992, and most recently served as vice president of Dow Corning's Solar Solutions & Wind Energy Solutions. In his more than 20-year career at Dow Corning, Peeters has served in various science and business leadership roles in the United States and Europe. Eric has a master's degree in chemical engineering from the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium, and a Master in Technology Enterprise degree from the IMD in Lausanne, Switzerland. Dow Corning also named Dan Futter as vice president of Dow Corning's Solar and Wind Solutions businesses, effective Sept. 1. Futter brings nearly two decades of technical and management experience to his role leading Dow Corning's Solar and Wind Energy Solutions business division. Futter is taking over from Peeters, who helped  establish the company's position as a global supplier and innovation partner in the solar industry. Futter joined Dow Corning in 1994, and most recently served as business vice president of Dow Corning's Business and Technology Incubator. The B&TI is chartered with discovering and building significant new business opportunities for the corporation. In his more than 18-year career at Dow Corning, Futter has served in various technical, commercial, business development and executive positions in the United States and Europe. He is a board member for the Specialty Chemicals Business at Dow Corning and of the Mid Michigan Innovation Center. Futter earned a B.Sc. Hons in Biochemistry with Biotechnology from the University of Birmingham, UK. Dow Corning provides more than 7,000 products and services in silicones and silicon-based technologies to more than 25,000 customers worldwide.
