City Of Hamtramck Infused With Housing Development Funds

HAMTRAMCK (WWJ) - Hamtramck hasn't been allowed to sell city-owned homes in four decades -- but that will change this year. City leaders and administrators with the Michigan State Housing Development Authority on Monday will announce a new $50 million housing development near Mitchell and Caniff Streets.

About 100 homes will be built with the support of more than $14 million in federal funds.

Hamtramck has not been allowed to sell any city-owned residential property due to a federal court ban while a housing discrimination lawsuit was pending.
