Hikers Find Body In Upper Peninsula

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP (AP) - State police say hikers in Michigan's Upper Peninsula have found a body.

Police say they were called to the scene around Wetmore Pond in Marquette County's Marquette Township on Thursday night following the discovery.

The Mining Journal in Marquette reports that three female hikers found the badly decomposed body about 50 feet from the water's edge of a bog. A dive team recovered the body.

The bog is about seven miles north of downtown Marquette.

An autopsy was planned to determine cause of death and identify the body. Additional information wasn't immediately released.
