Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work

DETROIT (WWJ) – Know before you go! Construction zones will be active all over metro Detroit this weekend, so plan your route ahead of time to avoid traffic backups and slow downs.

The following projects were announced by MDOT. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.

I-275:

In Wayne County, southbound I-275 will have a single lane open from Ford Road to Michigan Avenue from 4 p.m. Saturday until 6 p.m. Sunday for paving.

I-375:

In Detroit, the northbound I-375 ramp to southbound I-75, and the northbound I-375 ramp to Gratiot Ave, will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for pavement repair. Detours will be posted for each ramp.

I-75:

In Oakland County, northbound I-75 will be reduced to a single lane from Clintonville Road to M-15 from 9 p.m. Friday until 4 p.m. Sunday for pavement repair.

In Detroit, northbound I-75 will have a right lane closure from M-10 to Woodward from 7 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for pavement repair. In addition, the ramps from northbound I-75 to M-3, and the Clifford Street ramp to northbound I-75 will be closed.

I-94:

In Detroit, eastbound and westbound I-94 will have alternating single and double lane closures between I-96 and Michigan Avenue from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for ongoing bridge work. Single lane closures will be during daylight hours (7 a.m. until 9 p.m.) and double lane closures during overnight hours (9 p.m. until 7 a.m. Friday and Saturday). All lanes will be open by 5 a.m. Monday.

In Macomb County, eastbound and westbound I-94 will have a single lane open between 23 Mile and County Line roads from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for ongoing road work.

In Macomb County, eastbound and westbound I-94 will have double lane closures between North River Road and 23 Mile Road during the overnight hours (9 p.m. until 10 a.m.) on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights for maintenance. All lanes will be open by 5 a.m. Monday.

In St. Clair County, eastbound and westbound I-94 will have single lane closures at Lapeer Road from 5 a.m. Saturday until 5 p.m. Sunday for bridge work.

In Wayne County, the right lane of eastbound I-94 will be closed from Vining to Middlebelt roads from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Sunday for sign work and barrier wall repair. In addition, the ramp from northbound Vining Road to eastbound I-94 will be closed.

M-1 (Woodward Avenue):

In Oakland County, double lane closures on northbound and southbound Woodward between I-696 and 14 Mile Road from 10 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Monday for utility work.

M-10 (Northwestern Highway):

In Oakland County, northbound and southbound M-10 will have intermittent single and double lane closures between Beck and Orchard Lake roads from 7 a.m. Saturday until 7 p.m. Sunday for ongoing road work.

M-14:

In Wayne County, eastbound M-14 will have intermittent single and double lane closures from Sheldon Road to I-275 from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday for maintenance.

M-15:

In Oakland County, M-15 will be reduced to a single lane at times, with flag control, between Grange Hall and Ray roads from 7 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for resurfacing.

M-29 (23 Mile Road):

In Macomb County, northbound and southbound M-29 will have single lane closures between Baker and County Line roads from 8 a.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Monday for utility work.

M-39 (Southfield Freeway):

In Wayne County, northbound and southbound M-39 will be reduced to a single lane under I-94 from 4 a.m. Saturday until 9 p.m. Sunday for ongoing bridge work.

M-53 (Van Dyke Ave):

In Macomb County, northbound and southbound M-53 will be closed just north of I-696 for the replacement of a Consumer’s Energy gas main located under the roadway. The closure will end by 5 a.m. Tuesday. Through traffic on Van Dyke between I-696 and 12 Mile Road will be detoured to either Hoover or Dequindre. Access to I-696 at the Van Dyke ramps will be maintained. Access to southbound Van Dyke from either direction of I-696 is available.

US-12:

In Wayne County, the two left lanes of westbound US-12 (Michigan Ave) are closed from Middlebelt to Inkster roads until Sept 20 for drainage repair.

US-24 (Telegraph Road):

In Detroit, intermittent full closures on northbound and southbound US-24 between 7 Mile and 8 Mile roads from 8 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday in order for crews to remove the Frisbee Street pedestrian overpass.

Beginning the week of Monday, Sept. 17:

I-94:

In Wayne County, the eastbound I-94 ramp to northbound and southbound M-39 will be closed starting at 4 a.m. Wednesday and ending in Sept 28 for ongoing bridge work. Eastbound traffic will be detoured using Telegraph Road north to eastbound Ford Road to M-39.

In Macomb County, alternating single and double lane closures nightly on westbound I-94 from 23 Mile Road to Shook Road starting at 7 p.m. and ending by 5 a.m. the following morning starting Monday and ending Thursday.

In Macomb County, eastbound and westbound I-94 will be reduced to a single lane nightly between 23 Mile and County Line roads starting at 9 p.m. and ending by 5 a.m. beginning Monday and ending Thursday.

M-15:

In Oakland County, M-15 will be reduced to a single lane with flag control nightly starting at 7 p.m. and ending by 5 a.m. the following morning between Grange Hall and Ray roads on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
