Kalamazoo Sex Offender Faces Child Porn Charges

KALAMAZOO (AP) - A registered sex offender from Kalamazoo is being held on multiple counts of child pornography.

A federal indictment filed last week in Grand Rapids says 33-year-old Eric Walker faces multiple charges, including distribution, possession and transportation of child pornography, and sexual exploitation of a child.

Authorities allege that in February and March of 2009 and in March 2011, Walker used his computer to distribute images of child pornography. Authorities say in April, Walker twice persuaded a 15-year-old girl to send sexually explicit photos of herself to him via text message.

MLive.com says Walker is listed on Michigan's sex offender registry for an April 7, 1997 conviction of attempted third-degree criminal sexual conduct in Bay City.

He is scheduled to appear in federal court Wednesday.
