7-11 Thief Said Mom's Dying Of Cancer

WATERFORD (WWJ) - Waterford police are looking for an armed robber who told the victim his mother was dying of cancer.

Police said the suspect went to the 7-11 store on Crescent Lake Road, pointed a pistol at the clerk and demanded money. The man said his mother was dying of cancer before the clerk, a 58-year-old woman, gave him the cash.

It happened at 10:37 p.m. last Wednesday, Sept. 12.

The suspect is described as a white male, five feet ten inches to six feet tall and 140-150 lbs, with blue eyes. He was wearing a dark colored hoodie sweatshirt and a camouflage baseball cap.

Police said he fled the scene in a dark-colored vehicle -- possibly a four-door car.

Anyone with information about this crime or who recognizes the suspect pictured in these security images is asked to contact Waterford Police Detective Mike Morgan at (248) 618-6664.
