Pipeline Company Increases Efficiency And Communication With Visual Fusion

LANSING -- Faced with limited information technology resources, a natural gas pipeline company operating in a very competitive, commodity market found a way to gain efficiency and competitive advantage from its geographic information systems data by using Visual Fusion data visualization software from Lansing-based IDV Solutions.

A new case study details how Atlas Pipeline has been able to visualize the locations and performance of its pipelines and processing facilities, competitor activity, and more than 40 other data layers in one cohesive, interactive view.  The result is better communication among business units and instant access to the information needed to make strategic decisions.

"Everyone in the company knows and understands their own segment of the business," said Atlas Pipeline's CIO, Tony Dionisio. "But when it comes to communicating with groups beside or above them, that's where the spatial (business intelligence) technology in Visual Fusion really comes into its own. It quickly paints a picture for everyone of what could be a potential business issue."

Visual Fusion unites disparate data sources in a Web-based, visual context on a map and timeline. The software is a product of IDV Solutions, which is also known for its Visual Command Center risk analysis and response software.

The case study is available for downloading from the IDV website, www.idvsolutions.com.
