2 Woman Hurt, One Critical In I-75 Crash

LINCOLN PARK (WWJ) - Michigan State Police say drinking and driving may have played a part in an accident on I-75  that left two people hospitalized.

It happened just after 10 a.m. Wednesday on the northbound side of the freeway at Dix Highway in Lincoln Park.

Police said witnesses spotted a silver Nissan was speeding in the center lane where it rear ended a Ford Mustang. Both drivers were take to the hospital were the driver of the Nissan was listed in critical condition and the driver of the Ford was listed as stable.

Police said both women were wearing their seat belts.

The northbound lanes of I-75  were closed at Dix-Toledo for an accident investigation but have since reopened.

No names have been released.

Note: Lincoln Park police had earlier told WWJ Newsradio 950 that one of the woman had died. That information turned out to be incorrect.
