Detroit Cops Shop A Better Market

DETROIT (WWJ) - Toledo Police may be poaching some of Detroit's finest.

A day after their 10-percent pay cut was upheld in court, at least nine Detroit Police officers either expressed interest or applied for positions with recruiters from the Toledo Police Department.

The head of the Detroit Police Officers Association says get used to seeing this, as the better officers on the force look for better pay. And he added that he's not going to stop them.

The union put the word about the recruiters out on their website. After the pay cut, a cop's top salary in Detroit is $47,000 a year... that's just three thousand more than the starting pay in Toledo.
