Barely a dozen years after he was the smartest student at Hamtramck High School, Emil Konopinski was the brightest young nuclear scientist on the team ensuring that America won the World War II race for the ultimate weapon.

His postwar calculations reassured President Ike that our H-bomb tests wouldn't incinerate the planet enabling Uncle Sam to show the Kremlin Reds the price they would pay for all-out aggression.
