‘The Birds’ Star Tippi Hedren To Appear At Redford Theater

REDFORD (WWJ) – An Alfred Hitchcock classic is showing at the Redford Theater this weekend — “The Birds” starring Tippi Hedren and Rod Taylor.

Hedren, who will make a special appearance at each showing, stopped by the WWJ Newsradio 950 studios on Friday.

She talked about the great disappointment she felt after Hitchcock’s continued unwelcome sexual advances forced her to end their working relationship.

“Because I really loved working with him — he was my drama coach,” said Hedren. “Doing commercials was one thing, but breaking down a script and getting into a character … I was really loving it. I just loved it.”

Hedren, now 82, said the whole ordeal essentially ruined her acting career. “And I feel like I’ve been very, very much cheated out of something wonderful,” she said.

Hedern will be on hand at this weekend to meet movie-goers and sign autographs. Get showtimes and more details at this link.
